Warming the Down at Dawn

Warming the Down at Dawn

Warming the Down at Dawn

This oil painting of a Swan has a lush, enveloping softness, which is rendered as a mass of shimmering violet plumage fluffing out its down in the warmth of the rays of the dawn. The diagonal golden streams of light, along with the clustered flowers add warmth and theatrical contrast to the cool feathered surface.

Humming the Joy

Warming the Down at Dawn

Warming the Down at Dawn

A blue-green background with gold, white, orange, purple, and burgundy accents.

The oil painting offers a luminous and intimate view of a peaceful hummingbird, with the warm wing tones set against a cool atmospheric ground.

It's jewel-like color contrasts and centered composition give it a calm, but lively presence.

Rest at Sunset

Warming the Down at Dawn

Rich burgundy, deep brown, bright blue, red, and olive green with warm golden highlight. The oil painting has a warm, inviting ornamental quality, with vivid blue birds set against a glowing reddish background. The contrast between cool plumage and saturated berries gives the image a cheerful, luminous presence. Oklahoma blue birds are always a delight and joy for me.

Warmly Blooming

Charcoal sketch of values of peacefully clustered flowers and petals, bring a warm mood and gentle smile to the day.

Sparrows Delight

The oil painting combines a calm teal atmosphere with vivid floral accents, giving it a warm, inviting presence.

The single, independent bird acts as a quiet focal point, while the flowers create lively rhythm and ornamental richness.

A couple of butterflies flitter-flutter by as pollination dusts its way behind them.

Crimson-Berry Day

The Oil painting has a calm, ornamental character, with rhythmic linework suggesting wind, water, and marshy grasses in motion. The subdued field and metallic-toned birds create a gentle contrast between serenity and surface energy. I so love the metallic simplicity of the siblings on their perch.

Contemplations of the Swan

Seated in quiet reflection, embodying discipline, resilience, and beauty that exist beyond the performance. Rich shades of pink contrast against a softly textured background of lavender, aqua, and shimmering silver, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that celebrates both movement and serenity. Layered with expressive brushwork and subtle texture, this original oil painting invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the balance of vulnerability and strength found within every artist.

Dreams of Flight

Warm and atmospheric, with expressive brushwork and dramatic lighting, this hummingbird gives us a moment of quiet wonder and hope, in the midst of our day. Oil work, with its illuminating qualities, make this sweet creature a delight.

Never Fades

Never Fades

Experience this piece, which stands bold and powerful in a memories vision. The work presents a romantic, luminous floral image with a bold rose set against a glowing gold field.

The contrast between the dense bloom and the airy branching filler flowers gives it a pleasing sense of both weight and delicacy. My yearly rose gardens open a plethora of inspiration to be captured for longer that a single season.

Unfailing Blooms

Stunning oil paintings will captivate you with their beauty and calming mood. Deep reds, greens, cream, brown, and dark blue-purple tones create a warm mood of ambiance.

Pudgy Little Sneaky...

The creative charcoal process of Windie Sturges Fine Art can be seen with these meticulous attentions to value and detail.

The piece has a subdued, moody character created by its dark tonal field and softly modeled forms. The contrast between the dense background and the luminous flower gives it a quiet, introspective presence.

Pudgy little Sneaky...gives a moment of a smile.

Path to the Willow Escape

These paintings are a celebration of color and light. A winding garden path invites you into a peaceful landscape where vibrant blooms of purple, gold, and white, which flourish beneath towering evergreens and graceful willow trees. Rich layers of color and expressive brushwork capture the beauty of a quiet garden at the height of its bloom, while the distant forest and luminous sky create depth and serenity. Painted in oils, this original artwork celebrates the restorative power of nature, offering a moment of calm and an invitation to wander, reflect, and dream.

Heritage and Folage

This is a Sill-Life Oil painting  of my grandmother's Frankoma tea pot, along with my half-head planter pot, which together has a moody, intimate atmosphere

The cool teapot, balancing the soft foliage and powdery central hiding burst of grays, is a layered arrangement, which gives the scene a dreamlike quality that feels both domestic and slightly surreal.

Singular Strength & Dependence

Singular Strength & Dependence

While in San Fransisco, sitting on an area along the bay, I saw the sweetest interaction between the feral kitty-cat and multiple passers-by.  The story is both  special and detailed.

This was a moment in time that was caught in my sketch, which I followed by watercolor.  The singular strength of the affectionate cat...on its terms of course...also included its dependence on the community that (as I found out the next day while on my flight home) have a rotation of individuals who feed and care for them.  If we ever meet, I will share the full story.

Colorful Delight

Singular Strength & Dependence

Watercolor pencils were used to achieve this vibrant peacock portrait.

Delicate line-work, celebrates to timeless glory of the Peacock with it's train in full spread.

My mother as had Peacocks in her yard and  on her acreage for many years.

They are greatly admired by our family.
